Ithaca Apple Fest this weekend!

This weekend is the Annual Apple Harvest Festival in downtown Ithaca. It's one of my most favorite shows ever. It's always right at that turning point when the air gets crisp, the leaves get all colorful and crunchy, and the smell of hot cider and pumpkin spice is all around. This show always has a great crowd too, rain or shine. It's just a wonderful atmosphere that always puts me in a cozy fall state of mind :)

This year, I'll be set up in a booth on the corner of Buffalo and Cayuga Street, where I'll be selling greeting cards, art prints, tote bags and coloring books. If you do stop by this year, make sure to say hi (and maybe bring me some hot cider) please!

The most enchanting time of year!

A few weeks late, but here is what I created for August's #SpankysArtParty. Can you tell I've got fall on my mind? This illustration is also available as a print in my Etsy shop here.

Incase you missed some of my earlier posts about this, "Spanky's Art Party" is a 52 week art challenge designed to help build your portfolio, started by my friend Jayme. Take a look at the upcoming themes here: www.instagram.com/p/BIvP9dZjW0U/?taken-by=jaymesloan. You are welcome to join in anytime for fun or to create work for your own art portfolio! Make sure to tag your work with #spankysartparty when you post about it online so we can see what you create! :)

New fall cards!

Here it is middle of September already. I'm getting very excited for my favorite time of year, when I can indulge in all of the cozy fall goodness.

I enjoy all of the seasons for their own special reasons, but I can't help but get a little bit more excited once the landscape starts to turn orange and the smell of crunchy leaves wafts in my windowInspired by that love for pumpkin spice and crisp weather, I've released some new fall products in my Etsy shop.

Head on over to my Etsy shop here and have a look!

Local Author Showcase

Next month I'll be at an Author Showcase at my local Barnes & Noble!

They are showcasing 10 local authors (including me!) on Saturday, September 10th from 2-4pm. I'll be there to answer questions about myself and my coloring book Don't Worry, Eat Cake. There will also be sci-fi and fantasy, business books, novels and kids' authors. They'll have something for everyone :) Find out more details here

Book Signing in Rochester

Hi Rochester friends! I'm going to be visiting the Barnes & Noble at the University of Rochester on August 2nd, which is National Coloring Book Day, for a book signing! I'll be there from 11AM-1PM, so stop by on your lunch break for some fun coloring time :). Hope to see you there!

Featured in the Press & Sun-Bulletin

I'm so excited to share my feature in the Creator series in the Press & Sun-Bulletin today! I bought two copies of the newspaper this morning :D. You can read the article online here

I think this was really my first solid interview. I'm pretty nervous talking about what I do still, a mixture of anxiety and self-doubt still lingering about,  but this was more fun than I anticipated :). Last week I got to meet a photographer downtown for a quick photo shoot for the article. I sometimes feel so uncomfortable in my own body when I'm being photographed. Suddenly my legs and arms feel in the way and I forget how my face normally rests. I don't think I ever want to feel like a pro at posing and taking selfies, but I'd probably feel better if I can learn to not overthink these things too much.
