Illustration Resources - Part 2

Happy November! Iโ€™m back with Part 2 of my illustration resources for you! If you caught my first post about this back in September, these are basically a way for me to share about some things/people Iโ€™ve found to be incredibly helpful in my work and creative life in general. The industry is full of a lot of very cool and talented artists who are sharing their wisdom and skills online, and I think you should know about them, too!

Today, I want to point you to my friend, Jamie Redmond, who is the owner of a greeting card company called The Memorable Image. Sheโ€™s currently teaching a Calligraphy Club workshop online and itโ€™s only $5 a month to join! Right now weโ€™re learning the basics of calligraphy and will soon learn how to decorate holiday envelopes and create our own festive gift tags and wrapping paper. I, personally, think itโ€™s relaxing and also an excellent distraction from the craziness going on in the world right now.

If youโ€™d like to join, sign up here!

Have you come across any cool online workshops lately? Or have you picked up a new hobby recently? Iโ€™d love to hear about it!

Pikaland Blog Interview

The wonderful illustration blog, Pikaland, interviewed me about the process of creating my book, My Life in Plants. Take a look to read more about how I got started in the illustration world, where the idea to write a memoir came from, what it was like to both write and illustrate a book, and how publishing books has impacted my career. Read the interview here.

Talking About MY LIFE IN PLANTS On Camera

A really cool blog, A Tribe of Women, recently invited me to create a few videos of myself talking about my book, My Life in Plants, that they later shared on their Instagram Stories. I shared them on my Instagram feed too, but I thought Iโ€™d also share them on here with you in case you missed them.

In the first video, I basically talk more in-depth about what the process of working on the book was like and why I felt it was important to share something so personal with the world. In the second video, I share some behind-the-scenes details about the personal project that kickstarted the idea for My Life in Plants.

Staying in Touch With Friends This Fall ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ

I always send out Christmas cards to friends, but this year I wanted to start a tradition of sending fall/Halloween cards as well. Though Iโ€™m introverted and can go a very long time without seeing people, even I miss friends and family too, especially now that fall and winter holidays are upon us and we know they wonโ€™t be the same this year. I illustrated a few designs to send out and decided to put them in my Etsy shop, too. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚
