Happy Pub Day to LIFE WITH PLANTS!

Yay! It’s here! My newest coloring book, Life with Plants, is finally here! In the publishing world, we say “Happy Pub Day” or “Happy Book Birthday” to celebrate the occasion. I kind of treat it like an actual birthday because I really like celebrating birthdays. This morning, Tater and I ventured out and I treated myself to a fancy holiday coffee treat (a chestnut praline latte to be exact).

LIFE WITH PLANTS is a companion coloring book to my recent illustrated memoir, My Life in Plants, where I told my story through the plants and flowers that have played both leading and supporting roles in my life. Now, you can continue to enjoy each plant’s impact and bring my journey to life with color! Inside are illustrations of my favorite plants and flowers, including ones that have been instrumental throughout my life, like the homegrown wildflower bouquet wrapped in duct tape that I carried on stage at age three, to the fragrant basil plant that brought me and my kitchen back to life after grief.

I hope it inspires you to recall the plants that have been witness to the memorable moments of your life, too, as you color in the charming and lush illustrations.

A Coloring Book All About Cottagecore!

I’m excited to share the second part of my big news announcement 📣! Not only do I have a plant-themed coloring book coming out, there will also be one coming out devoted to all things cottagecore!

It’s going to be called COTTAGECORE GALORE and it will be out next spring and be published by Andrews McMeel!

🍓🐝👒I’m so excited to be working on this coloring book and I know you’re going to love this one too. If you aren’t familiar with cottagecore yet, think rustic simplicities of home, idyllic rural life, meadows and wildflowers, baking a strawberry pie in a cozy cottage kitchen, handwritten letters, picnicking in the garden, foraging for mushrooms, gingham dresses…I could really get lost in the world of cottagecore!

This is the main thing I’ll be working on this summer and I’ll definitely be enjoying the “research” along the way (like baking berry pies, growing chamomile in my garden for tea, taking up embroidery again…). 🌾🍄

New Coloring Book Announcement!

I’m very excited to share part 1 of some big news with you! I have a new coloring book coming out with Andrews McMeel this fall called LIFE WITH PLANTS! Inspired by my recent memoir My Life In Plants, this coloring book includes illustrations of all the plants that impacted my life plus many more of my favorites for you to bring to life with color.

It’ll be here October 19th and I’ll be sharing more updates over the coming months!

The last few months for me have been filled with drawing houseplants, flowers, and all things related to gardening. It has actually been a very lovely and relaxing way to get through the last cold bits of winter/early spring! I can’t wait to share more of the illustrations with you soon (and to also share part 2 of my big news announcement!).

My First Foreign-Translated Book!

I have some really exciting news to share! My Life in Plants has been translated into Chinese and is now available in Taiwan! This is the first book of mine to be translated into a foreign language. I think it’s just so cool to see the translated cover! The book was actually just released a few days ago there, and below you can watch a cute video that my publisher put together to help promote it.

A Belated Happy 2021!

Hope January has been okay for you! It's been pretty snowy and cold here in upstate New York. I’m grateful that I work from home and can stay warm and cozy inside all the time. My days have been spent working on a new book project (I’ll fill you in very soon about the exciting news!), drawing for fun in a sketchbook more regularly, working on some client work, and in the background of all that I’m working on building up another new book project idea.

In the evenings and weekends, I’ve been cooking and baking a lot (recently attempted a french macaron recipe and they turned out surprisingly great!), listening to audiobooks (just listened to Riley Sagar’s Home Before Dark which was so spooky and good!), playing board games with Joby (we just got this game and we think it’s so cute and charming to play), and resting and relaxing mostly.
